Volunteer Openings

NUNM Community Health Centers provide natural health care to medically under-served people of the greater metropolitan area. NUNM gives high quality clinical training for its students, who educate, treat and empower their patients on their path to health and well-being. As a Community Clinics Volunteer, you will gain first-hand experience working in public health and an opportunity to provide critical assistance to our patients seeking health focused resources.

There are number of Community Health Center locations across the greater Portland metro area. These health centers are housed within various partnering community organizations such as senior centers, college campuses, other clinics, churches, etc. Students employ their advanced knowledge and skills of naturopathic medicine and classical Chinese medicine at these sites

At a handful of these health centers, our volunteers serve as patient advocates who help ensure that their experience with NUNM is positive and rewarding. This means our volunteers schedule appointments, stock medical and office supplies, and support the doctors and students. During the shift, volunteers are responsible for keeping the front desk tidy, checking patients in, giving patients the appropriate paperwork for completion, scheduling them for follow up appointments, and taking payments. Shifts are typically four hours in length.

Additionally, NUNM is seeking the support of individuals who are savvy with social networks and resources. Outreach volunteers are asked to support staff in connecting with communities across the Portland metro area and promote the healing services that NUNM offers.
